Llandudno’s Alice Trail, one of the town's most beloved attractions, was officially relaunched yesterday (19/03/25) with Llandudno Town Mayor and Miss Alice cutting a ribbon at the new Mad Hatter’s Table in Happy Valley.
A series of speeches were given, before guests witnessed the statues being brought to life by the talents of Magic Light Productions reading from the novel in the Teacher’s Chair.
The unique trail celebrates the legacy of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, existing statues have been refurbished and new statues unveiled, bringing fresh energy to the town and offering an unforgettable experience for both new and returning visitors.
Conwy County Borough Council secured funding from UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund to refurbish and repair the much-loved Alice in Wonderland statues in Llandudno.
Cllr Nigel Smith, Cabinet Member for A Sustainable Economy, comments: “We’re thrilled to welcome visitors back to the Alice Trail, now better than ever. This re-launch not only celebrates the magic of Lewis Carroll’s masterpiece, but also brings our community together in a way that showcases the beauty and creativity of Llandudno. We’re excited to invite both new visitors and long-time fans to rediscover the wonder of Alice and her adventures right here in Llandudno.”
Llandudno holds a special place in the heart of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Lewis Carroll (the pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) spent many summers in the town, where he was inspired by the stunning landscape and the town’s Victorian charm. The Alice Trail celebrates the relationship between the famous author, the town and the real Alice in Wonderland who holidayed in the resort in the 1860s.
In line with the 160th anniversary of the original publication of Alice in Wonderland, the refreshed Alice Trail offers a chance for literary fans and visitors to immerse themselves in the locations that shaped the beloved story. There are 34 points of interest which invite visitors to embark on their own magical journey through the whimsical world of Wonderland Llandudno.
A new Alice Trail leaflet and map to guide visitors along the trail will be available to purchase next month from Llandudno Tourist Information Centre in the Victoria Shopping Centre.
