Council Approves Updated Corporate Plan
Conwy County Borough Council has for many years, undertaken an annual review to update the Corporate Plan. The updated Corporate Plan was approved by councillors at the Council meeting yesterday (27/02/25).
The Corporate Plan, which runs until 2027, has been revised to further address the challenges of the current financial climate, and amended from nine outcomes to five key goals. The revisions aim to increase the Authority's ability to achieve its long-term ambitions more effectively and efficiently.
The five key goals focus on the most critical areas that can drive positive change and sustainable development in the community.
Council Leader, Cllr Charlie McCoubrey, said: "It‘s really important that we focus our efforts and resources in these financially challenging times. These five key goals give greater clarity to make sure that our actions have impact and are aligned with the needs of our communities."
The five long term goals outlined in the Corporate Plan are:
1. Resilient Council - The Council will be sustainable and will still be able to deliver core services to meet the needs of residents and visitors.
2. Environment - Our actions will slow climate change and safeguard the environment for future generations.
3. Prosperity and learning - Our rich heritage will have been protected to support the well-being of future generations. We will have retained talent that supports growth and places Conwy at the heart of the North Wales economy. Our children will be ambitious and capable learners. They will be healthy, confident individuals who play an active role in communities and are skilled and ready for the job opportunities available.
4. Housing - By focusing on a strategic approach, we will have created sustainable communities that residents are proud to call home.
5. Well-being - We want to create an environment where safeguarding is everyone’s business and no one is harmed. We will enable people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives. We want people to be self-caring, to make healthy lifestyle choices, and live well with chronic health issues. We will have reduced the adverse impact of poverty. By supporting the care sector, the right care will be available when it is needed, and meets the needs of Conwy’s changing demographic population.
Cllr McCoubrey, added “We’re committed to working with communities, businesses and partners to achieve these goals, and this updated Corporate Plan will serve as a roadmap for the authority’s initiatives and actions for this current administration.”
