Plans have been announced to regenerate the former M&S building on Mostyn Street in Llandudno, with support from Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns programme.

As part of a project to develop the building into a leisure hub, Conwy County Borough Council submitted a bid to the Transforming Towns Programme. Welsh Government has awarded £700,000 against a total project cost of over £5m.

This funding will support Mostyn Estates, the owners of the building, to refurbish the building and develop a new family entertainment hub and food and beverage offer.

Mostyn Estates will be partnering with an experienced leisure operator who will manage the building to offer guests a fully themed café bar, six bowling lanes, intelligent darts, shuffleboard, pool tables, an indoor 11-hole crazy golf, along with a family entertainment centre to add an indoor recreation facility to the heart of Llandudno.

Mostyn Estates said, “We are delighted to be delivering this exciting development and repurposing a beloved building in a central location of Mostyn Street. We feel this project will support the high street in attracting footfall and spend across both the day and evening bringing a vibrancy to the high street and town, which all businesses can benefit from.”

Cllr Nigel Smith, Conwy County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for a Sustainable Economy, said: “We were delighted to help secure this Welsh Government funding. The former M&S building on Mostyn Street is a key premises in the town. The plans to develop a leisure and entertainment hub are an exciting opportunity, which can help secure the vibrancy and economic sustainability of this part of town for residents and visitors.”
