  • Targeted services:  Disability Team, Old People and HSW, Vulnerable People Team
  • Target group:  Financial Assessment Officers and Deputies. Internal Adult Social Care staff – social work teams, reablement team, disabilities and vulnerable people teams

Course aims and objectives

The workshop aims to:

  • Ensure a robust understanding of the forms of financial abuse.
  • Ensure individual responsibility for decision making in the context of appropriate support.
  • When to report a financial abuse concern.
  • Understand the legislative context as regards financial abuse and be confident to take appropriate legal and procedural action in all cases.
  • Build a consistent approach across the authority in response to financial abuse cases.
  • Identify confidence and competence in this area of practice, and additional support needs.
  • Develop professional curiosity when dealing with potential financial abuse cases.
