Conwy County Borough Council Staff Raise over £2,700 for MIND
A dedicated team from Conwy County Borough Council has successfully completed the demanding Conwy Coastal Three Peaks Challenge in support of the mental health charity, MIND. Starting in Conwy town centre, the group tackled Conwy Mountain (801ft) before walking to Llandudno to take on the Great Orme (659ft). The final stretch took participants along Llandudno Promenade and then climbed up to the summit of the final peak - The Little Orme (463ft). This walk is a total of 15 miles and reached an ascent of almost 2000ft!
Led by Katie Clubb, the Head of Service for Strategic Housing Service and Cllr Emily Owen, Cabinet Member for Housing, Homelessness and Service Change, the group of 17 staff from Housing Services and other Conwy Council Departments wanted to support Conwy Mind because they recognise the link between homelessness and mental health and the importance of mental health support in our communities. With the generous support of family, friends and colleagues the team raised over £2,734.75 for Conwy MIND.
"I am incredibly proud of the team. They have shown real dedication and commitment by volunteering their own time to take part in this challenge,” said Katie Clubb, "it was great to see everyone getting out and getting fit in training for the walk. It was all about helping others but also supporting well-being within the team. Many people met and got to know others they hadn’t known before."
Cllr Emily Owen, said, “Mental health doesn't discriminate; it can affect anyone at any time. Mind does incredible work to support those in need and the team’s dedication to raising awareness and funds for Mind is inspiring, highlighting the compassion of our staff at Conwy Council and our community as a whole.”
The money raised will go directly to MIND, helping the charity to continue its vital work in providing mental health support services, advocacy, and education.
