Social Work Week 2024
As Social Work Week (18th to 22nd March) drew to a close, Conwy Cabinet Members thanked staff for their hard work and dedication.
Over the week, a series of online events were organised by WeCareWales, bringing people together to celebrate social work through focusing on collaboration, well-being and areas of practice improvement.
In Conwy, a further two sessions were arranged, for social workers to celebrate International Social Work Day. The sessions were opened by a video message from Professor Prospera Tedam of University College Dublin and author of Anti- Oppressive Social Work Practice.
Cllr Penny Andow, Cabinet Member for Integrated Adult and Community Services, said: “We know that Social Work is an incredibly challenging area of work, so it’s important that we take time to recognise all they do to help improve lives in our communities, and to support them and their colleagues across social services so they can do their jobs.”
Cllr Liz Roberts, Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Safeguarding, said: “Social Work Week gives us the opportunity to express our thanks to our fantastic team for their hard work and dedication to deliver the best outcomes for the families and the individuals that they work with, and help improve lives in Conwy.”
