Three refurbished Paddling Pools open

Conwy County Borough Council has announced that the paddling pools at Llanfairfechan, Penmaenmawr and Rhos-on-Sea will open on 17/05/24.

Cllr Aaron Wynne, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure said: “I’m delighted to announce that following extensive refurbishment three of our paddling pools will be opening.

“This has been a major investment to secure the long term future of these much loved community assets. I’m pleased they will be open for the bank holiday weekend and I hope we have some good weather this summer so that everyone gets the chance to enjoy them.”

Last week’s spell of dry weather has also helped progress at the fourth site in Craig-y-Don, which is by far the largest pool. All major construction work has been completed and contractors are now carrying out the final stages of their work when the weather allows.  The opening date for Craig-y Don paddling pool will be confirmed closer to the time.

Cllr Goronwy Edwards, Cabinet Member for Environment, Roads and Facilities – Infrastructure, said: “I’d like to thank our contractors for all their hard work, particularly given the almost constant wet weather we’ve had. They’ve really done all they can to get on site whenever conditions have allowed.”

The Council is proud of the fact that it has four of only five remaining free public paddling pools in North Wales and recognises the importance of them to both local people and to our visitor economy.
