Gaming in a licenced premises
There are provisions to allow a certain number of Category C and D machines in licenced premises. The Premises Licence must authorise the sale of alcohol on the premises.
Gaming machine automatic entitlement
This entitles the premises where alcohol is being sold to provide up to two category C and D machines. While this is an automatic entitlement an application must be made along with a plan of the location of the machines and a fee of £50 must be paid.

Gaming machine permit
Licensed premises gaming machine permits to allow any number of category C or D machines in their licensed premises.
How to apply
An application for a gaming machine Permit may only be made by the Holders of Premises Licences issued under the Licensing Act 2003. The Premises Licence must authorise the sale of alcohol on the premises.
The application must be accompanied by: the prescribed fee the prescribed documents.

Eligibility
Processing and timescales
The authority may grant or refuse an application. In granting the application, the authority may vary the number and category of gaming machines authorised by the permit.
Appeal / redress mechanisms
The applicant may appeal to the magistrates' court against an authority's decision not to issue a permit. The holder can also appeal against a decision to cancel a permit.
