Safer Conwy was established by the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. We are a statutory organisation that co-ordinate and bring together key agencies who include Conwy County Borough Council, Denbighshire County Council, North Wales Police (Central Division), North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, North Wales Probation, Conwy Local Health Board and Conwy and Denbighshire Youth Offending Team. These organisations are committed to increasing community safety in Conwy, through a reduction in local crime and disorder.
The partnership has 5 sub groups to address the above issues. These are the Partnership Priorities which you can find in the sections below:
Serious Crime and Counter terrorism
- Fewer repeat Victims of Domestic Abuse
- More victims reporting Domestic Abuse for the First Time
- Reducing the Availability of Class A drugs
Local Priorities
- Effectively tackling Environmental Crime (dog fouling, littering and graffiti)
- Reducing Alcohol related Crime
- Reducing criminal damage & Anti Social Behaviour
Reducing Re-Offending
- Reduce the number of repeat offenders
- Reduce juvenile re-offending
- Reducing the number of offences committed by repeat offenders
Tackling Substance misuse
- Increase referrals to structured treatment services
- Increase the number of contacts engaged with the harm reduction service
- Alcohol misuse by under 18s
Promoting Community Safety
- Reducing the Fear of Crime
- Increasing reassurance
- Involve the community in delivering the action plan
