Budget and Council Tax 2025/26

Budget & Council Tax 2025/26
Members of Conwy County Borough Council have today (27/02/25) set the Budget and Council Tax for 2025/26.
Council Leader, Cllr. Charlie McCoubrey, introduced the report to the meeting of the Council.
He said, “The report has been revised to recognise the small, but nonetheless welcome, additional funding announced by Welsh Government in their final budget settlement on the 20th of February.
“The report clearly sets out the financial challenges we face, mainly as a result of increased demand for statutory services.
“Once again we face unpalatable choices, balancing further cuts to already reduced services and further increasing the Council's tax burden on our residents to meet our statutory obligation to set a balanced budget for the 2025/2026 financial year.”

The Council approved the Budget and set the Council Tax for 2025/26.
This means a Council Tax increase of 8.27% to fund Council services and a 0.68% increase to fund the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service levy, which is a combined increase of 8.95%.
Based on a Band D Council Tax, that’s an increase of £143.35 (£2.75 per week) for Council services and an increase of £11.79 (£0.23 per week) for the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service levy. That’s a combined increase of £155.14 (£2.98 per week), which raises the Band D equivalent Council Tax to £1,888.51.
The actual level of Council Tax chargeable for an individual property will depend on the valuation band for the property, the precept for the Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales, and the Town / Community Council where the property is situated.
Additional Information:
Conwy has around 55,800 dwellings subject to Council Tax, of which around 21,400 receive single person discount.
Around 10,500 households are supported by the Council Tax Reduction Scheme (some of whom will also receive single person discount).
