Conwy Youth Engagement & Belonging Team are Boxing Clever

Boxercise session
Conwy Youth Engagement & Belonging Team was delighted at the turn out at its first youth Boxercise session at Ty Hapus Community Centre in Llandudno recently.
The Team is working in partnership with MBox, a Fitness non-contact boxing session which is also based at Ty Hapus. The class, which took place on Friday 7 February, was attended by 24 young people. After the class, they were then also able to take part in the youth club activities at Ty Hapus.
Area Youth Worker, Tommy Lyness, says, “The class will help young people develop their fitness, make friends, build confidence and learn new skills. We had a fantastic turnout for the first session and have no doubt it will continue to grow”.
Mike Leary who runs MBox, says, “Every single child that attended was incredible! They trained so hard and gave it their all and we did not go easy on them…they trained just like the adults do!”
The Boxercise sessions are for young people aged 11 to 17 years old. They take place on Fridays between 5.00pm-5.45pm and the Youth Club at Ty Hapus then runs between 6:00pm-8:00pm. Anyone interested in taking part can contact Mbox on Facebook or Tommy Lyness on 07519 559851 to attend, or email tommy.lyness@conwy.gov.uk.
