No Pass, No Travel on school buses

Conwy County Borough Council is reminding pupils and parents that bus passes will need to be shown for all journeys on school buses.

The ‘no pass, no travel policy’ will be enforced on all Conwy school buses from the first day back to school in September to make sure  pupils entitled to travel have a seat and that there is sufficient capacity on every bus.

Cllr Julie Fallon, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Education explains:

“The system has been in place for many years, and we’ve been in touch with schools and parents, including new users of school buses.  But I think the message is worth repeating - if you don’t have a pass you can’t travel on the school buses.”

“Bus passes are colour coded and clearly show the pupil’s name and the number of their designated bus. This ensures that every eligible child is provided with a seatbelt and can travel safely in their own seat. Overcrowding is unacceptable on a school service and where we have two buses operating the same route, pupils sometimes get into the habit of catching the ‘later’ bus, which can lead to one bus travelling half empty and the second at risk of being overloaded”.

If you have any questions about your child’s transport arrangements, please contact Conwy’s Passenger Transport team by emailing: passengertransport@conwy.gov.uk or by calling 01492 577899.

Note:

If your child qualifies for school transport and is moving to the next school year at the same school, we will automatically update your details. Providing your home address has not changed we will continue to make the necessary travel arrangements. If your child has finished year 11 and is returning to sixth form you must reapply for transport, your previous arrangements will not automatically continue.

If your child's travel pass has been lost or damaged it must be replaced immediately. There is a £5.00 charge to replace each card.
