No. 14 bus service reinstated through Bryn y Bia Road

Conwy County Borough Council and Arriva Wales have been working together to find a solution to changes to the 14 bus service in Penrhynside.

Passengers raised concerns about the 14 service no longer serving Penrhynside following changes in September 2023.  Through negotiation, the Council and Arriva have arranged to reinstate the service through Bryn y Bia Road from July, with a change in the timetable.

Adam Marshall, Arriva Wales head of commercial, said: “When the 20mph restrictions were put in place, Arriva Wales reviewed all our services to keep them as punctual as possible. We had to make the decision to give the routes more time and change the routes to quicker roads in order to maintain overall punctuality.

"We were made aware of the disappointment felt by local residents and we’ve been working together with Conwy County Borough Council to resolve the issue.

“We’re really pleased to say that service 14 will be re-routed to operate through Bryn-Y-Bia Road in July.

“We’ve been able to do that by working so closely with our partners at the Council and reviewing punctuality data and taking into account any reviews on the guidance around the 20 mph limit.  We will continue to work together and if further changes take place and it’s possible, we will review the 15 service as well.”

Cllr Goronwy Edwards, Cabinet Member for Environment, Roads and Facilities – Infrastructure at Conwy County Borough Council said, “The Council works closely with local bus companies to encourage the best service for our residents. We’re delighted that Arriva is able to re-instate this part of the route to assist residents who may otherwise struggle to travel.”
