Storm Darragh Update 09/12/24

Conwy County Borough Council’s Leader, Cllr Charlie McCoubrey and Chief Executive, Rhun ap Gareth have thanked staff, contractors and partner organisations for their response to Storm Darragh.

Trees
Council teams were out dealing with over 100 fallen trees and large/obstructive branches. Clean-up efforts will continue throughout today and the coming week.
We’re asking people to please stay away from woodland nature reserves and parks while we do safety checks. Many trees have been weakened by the storm and are still dangerous. There’s a risk from falling branches and damaged trees.

Roads
Most roads in the County are now open.

Schools
Three schools remained closed in the County today due to being without heating and/or electricity.

Council buildings
Over the next few days, our staff will also be inspecting our properties and facilities for any damage.

Cllr McCoubrey said, “I would like to thank Council staff, colleagues in the emergency services, and our contractors and partners for all their hard work to help keep us safe during Storm Darragh.”
