Event Collaboration

North Wales Employability Week

The North Wales Regional Skills Partnership brought together employers, skills providers and key local stakeholders for North Wales Employability Week with the purpose of articulating skills demand and challenges at a regional and local level.

A task and finish group was set up to plan, arrange and deliver the North Wales Employability Week and Conwy Employment Hub was delighted to be invited to sit on that group, which organised a number of activities including a Staff Conference which was a full day, face to face interactive conference for front line delivery staff, advisers and mentors working with the Employability sector to support them with gaining a better understanding of provision across the region.

The North Wales Employability Week was held in March 2023 and was an outstanding success.

National Care Leavers Week

Conwy County Borough Council organised a National Care Leavers Week in October 2022 for the 130 care leavers living in the County.

The week long event, held at Coed Pella, aimed to inspire the young people to achieve their full potential with exhibits from local employers, employability and training companies, and the Hub was instrumental in inviting a number of young people’s employability/skills providers to attend including Careers Wales, WeMindTheGap, DWP, Creating Enterprise, Grwp Llandrillo Menai, M-Sparc/Hwb Mentor and North Wales Training. There were also workshops on CV writing, mock interviews and confidence building.

The Hub made full use of its stand speaking to every young person and foster carer to find out about their life and career aspirations while explaining what the Hub offers as a service and what support we can give to help them on their career path, resulting in seven care leavers signing up to our programme.

The Hub also invited Debbie Doig-Evans and Lisa Jones from the Care Leavers team to talk about, and promote the week on Sound Radio and Bayside Radio.

Engineering Education Scheme Wales

The Hub was invited to help assess the Engineering Education Scheme Wales' Sixth Form Projects and attended the Awards and Presentation Day which was held at Venue Cymru on 22 March 2023. Each judging panel consisted of three assessors who had deliberated the entries before the day and then visited each of the projects in turn where the students gave a 10-minute presentation which was followed by a Q&A session. Six Awards were presented to:

  • Coleg Meirion Dwyfor - Pwllheli for Best Application of Mathematics
  • Denbigh High School for Best Application of Engineering and Technology
  • Ysgol Friars for Best use of Mechanical Engineering Principles
  • Ysgol Bryn Elian for Most Innovative or Adapted Design
