What does net carbon zero mean?
Net carbon zero means reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and balancing the emissions we produce and the emissions we remove from the earth’s atmosphere.
We will reach net zero when the amount we add is no more than the amount taken away.
Why is it important?
We are already feeling the effects of climate change with rising sea levels and changing weather patterns including floods and severe storms. This will only get worse if global warming increases.
What we do in the next decade to limit emissions will be critical to the future of Conwy and our planet.
We are aiming to be a net zero carbon council by 2030. Net zero is important because it’s the best way we can reduce global warming and tackle climate change.
We have made a plan that says how we aim to become a net zero council by 2030.
