The allotments were developed in 2010 and provide 12 raised allotment plots for disabled access, 70 standard plots, a ground water borehole with a solar powered water pump and purpose built sheds with rainwater harvesting systems.
The Local Nature Reserve is noted for its limestone grassland containing a number of rare plant species and is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Two Scheduled Ancient Monuments are found on the area, one at the summit and one in the northeast corner of the site. The site is very popular for informal recreation, this popularity being enhanced by the spectacular views from the top of the hill.
