The regulations regarding the movement of abnormal loads is contained in the Government's Statutory Instrument 2003 No. 1998 - The Road Vehicles (Authorisation of Special Types) (General) Order 2003.
An abnormal load is a vehicle:
- With an axle load of more than 10,000 kilograms for a single non-driving axle and 11,500 kilograms for a single driving axle
- More than 2.9 metres wide
- More than 18.65 metres long
- A weight of more than 44,000 kilograms
Notifications

- Email to abnormalloads@conwy.gov.uk
- Hauliers should also submit an Indemnity Form annually to indemnify the authority for each movement.
- North Wales Police have to be notified separately.
- You can also contact ESDAL to notify them of an abnormal load request.
