Course aims and objectives

Evidence shows that when parents have problems which preoccupy them to the exclusion of other tasks, relationships or issues, they are unlikely to be available enough to carry out the task of parenting and unable to meet their children’s needs.  Such children are adversely affected in ways which this one day course will explore.

Participants will:

  • Understand parental risk factors such as alcohol or drug problems, domestic abuse, poverty, mental ill health, trauma and poor housing, and how these influence each other and compromise parenting
  • Consider this experience from the child’s perspective
  • Explore the ways in which children can be affected
  • Better understand some of the behaviours that abused, neglected or traumatised children might present with.

For further information, or if you have booked a place on the course and have not received notification to attend please contact the Workforce Development & Learning Administrative Team.  Please do not turn up to any course unless you have received notification of your place as the event may be fully booked.
