Electoral Register
The ELECTORAL register contains the names of everyone in Conwy County Borough Council who is entitled to vote and can only be used for certain purposes such as elections, law enforcement and checking your identity when you have applied for credit.
It is a criminal offence for them to pass this information on to anyone else or to use it for any other purpose. It can only be inspected under supervision at Bodlondeb, Conwy by prior arrangement only. It is an offence to make copies other than by hand written notes. Misuse of data from the electoral register could lead to a fine of up to £5,000.
Open Register
The OPEN register contains the names of everyone in Conwy County Borough Council who is entitled to vote except those who have opted out. This register can be purchased by anyone and used for any purpose.
If you do not want third parties, such as marketing companies, using the register to get your details then you must opt out of the open register.
How can I check if my name is on the open register?
How to Opt Out
Your details must appear on the electoral register but you can choose not to have your name showing on the open register. You can do this:
- When you fill in your voter registration, either on line or on paper. There will be an option to tick that you want to opt out of the open register
- Complete this form (Please only fill this in if you live within the County Borough of Conwy)
Each registered individual must inform us separately if they wish to opt out. You cannot do this on behalf of another person.
