Congratulations on your new role. We want to create a culture for you to learn and grow, to encourage your personal and professional development, to help you take care of your health and wellbeing and be the best version of you.
While you are working with us we encourage you to take the time to develop. There are various ways you can do this at Conwy. As part of your Conwy Conversation Check–In you can chat to your manager about your development. That might be specific to your role or profession, aspirations to gain management qualifications or something more generic.
Take a look at our Corporate Learning and Development Plan, which is available on our Intranet pages, you’ll see the range of learning opportunities we offer to you. Most of our courses are only half or one day in duration and are either free or have a small fee which would be paid for by your service.
The plan covers a number of topics including; Welcome to Conwy, Health, Wellbeing & Finance, Menopause Awareness, Working Skills, IT & Online Skills, Welsh Language Skills, Governance Workshops, Developing our Managers, Development through Apprenticeships, Working Safely, First Aid, Civil Contingencies and links to Online Resources, all supporting your continuous learning.
Your service may also have service specific learning for you to undertake too and this would be funded and supported by them.
We introduced a new digital learning platform in April 2022 called Coaching Culture. We offer all employees access to Coaching Culture Mindset modules which are a self-coaching tool that enables individuals to raise their self-awareness, complete self coaching exercises and make commitments to change behaviour covering subjects like Growth Mindset, Emotional Intelligence, Imposter Syndrome and Fear of Failure.
If you are joining us in a supervisory/manager role, then you will also have access to 25 bite size Coaching Lessons designed to increase manager’s skills, knowledge and capability to coach.
Whether you are accessing the Mindset Modules or Coaching Lessons, you’ll be sent an e-mail with how you can access the platform within a few weeks of your start date.
As a public service employee you will also be required to complete some mandatory modules. They are mandatory because we need you to help us by being our eyes and ears to help safeguard people in our communities. We provide you with training so you can raise your awareness of the issues we face, know what to look for and where to report any concerns.
If you work within Social Care you can also access additional, profession based training. Speak to your line manager or contact the Workforce Development Team for more information.
