Blue Badge misuse is a serious offence and can be considered as fraud, in some cases. We're committed to taking action against Blue Badge misuse and fraud. Your badge can be taken away if you misuse it, or let other people misuse it, or if we subsequently discover it has been obtained fraudulently.

It's a criminal offence to display a Blue Badge if the holder is not in the vehicle, or the vehicle isn't being used to pick up or drop them off. It's also a criminal offence for non-disabled people to use a badge - if you do, you could face a fine of up to £1,000. If you're not sure when or where you can use your badge, you can view guidelines on how to use the Blue Badge correctly on the Welsh Government website or email bluebadge@conwy.gov.uk for advice.

Examples of misuse and fraud:

  • Lying about or exaggerating a disability to get a badge
  • Making or using a fake badge
  • Using a badge you know is stolen
  • Using a badge when the badge holder is not travelling in the car
  • Using a badge that belonged to someone who died
  • Misuse of a designated Blue Badge bay
