The determination of certain types of planning applications, which are straightforward, has been delegated by the Council in accordance with clearly stated and published rules. Approximately 80% of planning applications are likely to be dealt with in this way, so helping decisions to be made more speedily.
Planning applications allocated for a decision under delegated powers may still be taken to the Planning Committee - for example, if during the processing of the application the planning officer feels that the application is more complicated than first thought; or if a significant level of objection is received; or if a Member of the Council so requests in accordance with the Council's Code of Practice.
