The Community Drug & Alcohol Service aims to reduce the risks and damage caused by drugs or alcohol to individuals, families and the local community. They work in partnership with other agencies to improve the health and social welfare of service users by offering treatment and care.

If someone is eligible for help, a social worker or care co-ordinator from the team will work with them and people who know them to identify their needs and how best to meet their needs. The social worker or care co-ordinator will then try to ensure they are linked up with the service that best meets their needs.

The services available are:

  • advice & information
  • assessment
  • counselling
  • relapse prevention
  • harm minimisation
  • community detoxification or in-patient detoxification unit
  • titration clinic for methadone prescription
  • prescribed medication maintenance
  • advice on sexual health
  • residential rehabilitation placements
  • auricular acupuncture
