The Kinmel Bay coastline is important for many coastal habitats and species.
Sandflats, mudflats and offshore open water provide habitats for internationally important bird species and fish species. Sea mammals (including seals, porpoises and dolphins), forage in the open water in front of the bay.
Our plans
We are planning a range of ecological enhancements to go alongside the new coastal defences, especially in the intertidal zone. These focus on:
- creating rocky shore habitat integrated into coastal defences
- creating and enhancing wildflower grassland and scrub incorporated into the landscape design
