Conwy County Borough Council is seeking to appoint a committed person to serve as an Independent Member on the Standards Committee. Applications are invited from interested persons who are of high standing in the community and are non-political; can demonstrate sound judgment and probity and are of good character and integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Independent Members are appointed for a period of between four and six years and may be appointed for a further consecutive term of up to four years. To apply you will need to be able to attend at least 4 meetings each year, which are currently being held virtually but are normally held in Bodlondeb, Conwy during the normal working day. Independent Members of the Standards Committee will be remunerated. Conwy is committed to equality of opportunity and we welcome applications from all sections of our community.
The following persons cannot in law be an Independent Member:
- A serving Councillor or Officer (or the spouse or civil partners of a Councillor or Officer) of Conwy County Borough Council, a Fire and Rescue Authority, a National Park Authority, or a Community / Town Council.
- Former Councillors or Officers of Conwy County Borough Council.
- Former Councillors or Officers of any other County or County Borough Council, Fire and Rescue Authority or National Park Authority until at least one year after ceasing to be a Councillor / Officer of that Authority.
