The following privacy notice applies to Facilities – applications for burial and cremation services.

This includes burials and memorials, head stones, grave ownership and transfer of grave ownership.

Purpose for processing and legal basis

The service process personal information in order to provide the amenities named above and ensuring compliance relating to the Public Health Act 1879, Burial Act 1900, Local Authorities Cemeteries Order 1977 and the Cremation Regulations 2008 Act.

Prevention/Detection of Crime/Fraud. The Serious Crime Act 2007 allows public authorities to disclose information for the purposes of preventing fraud, as a member of a specified anti-fraud organisation or otherwise in accordance with any arrangements made with such an organisation.

The Council is required by law to protect the public funds it administers and so may use any information you have provided for the prevention, detection and investigation of fraud and irregularity, for the performance of a contract, or, task carried out in the public interest, or to comply with a legal obligation.   Part 6 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 and the Accounts and Audit (Wales) Regulations are the Legal basis.

Also for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in Conwy County Borough Council.

  • Undertaker – The undertaker may ask for information on behalf of a family as there could be a need to change/transfer grave ownership.

How long we will hold your information

All information will be keep indefinitely in electronic format and all paper copies will be kept for up to 15-20 years.
