Driving Licence Checks

The following privacy notice applies to Transport Services – Driving Licence Checks.

This includes providing information which allows the authority to ensure that all drivers hold a valid driving licence to ensure compliance in service delivery.

Purpose for processing and legal basis

The service process personal information as duty of care in order to check that each driver has a valid driving licence with accurate driving entitlements, no driving endorsements or disqualifications and is in line with the General Data Protection Regulations 2018

Prevention/Detection of Crime/Fraud. The Serious Crime Act 2007 allows public authorities to disclose information for the purposes of preventing fraud, as a member of a specified anti-fraud organisation or otherwise in accordance with any arrangements made with such an organisation.

The Council is required by law to protect the public funds it administers and so may use any information you have provided for the prevention, detection and investigation of fraud and irregularity, for the performance of a contract, or, task carried out in the public interest, or to comply with a legal obligation.   Part 6 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 and the Accounts and Audit (Wales) Regulations are the Legal basis.

  • Health Declaration

Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with the data subject and to protect vital interests of the data subject or another person. It is also in the interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in Conwy County Borough Council.

Who we may share your information with

  • DVLA – DVLA provide necessary information about the persons driving licence
  • Advanced Check – Third party licence check facility to ensure driving licences are valid.

How long we will hold your information

Information is removed from the database immediately once driver leaves the authority. Mandate forms are destroyed after 3 years
