The following privacy notice applies to Finance & Customer Services/Waste – Assisted collection applications.

Where, through frailty or incapacity, a householder cannot present their wheeled bin, recycling boxes or mini food waste bin at the kerbside, and, subject to there being no other able bodied person living, working at, or any other person in a position to reasonably assist with moving waste containers at the property, the householder may make a formal request to the Council for an Assisted Collection service arrangement.

The Council will ask the householder to confirm that they are incapable of moving their waste containers

to/from their normal collection point and have nobody else to assist. If an Assisted Collection is approved by the Council then a suitable collection point on the property shall be agreed with the householder, and access made available for the collection crew from 07.00 hours on day of collection.

Purpose for processing and legal basis

Information is which may relate to age, disability, mobility or household makeup/occupancy circumstances in order to require assistance for waste collections.

Assisted Collections will be restricted to those households who are in genuine need following an application process to the Council. A home visit may be required for the Council to qualify the applicant. The Council shall review the need for this service by the householder on an annual basis. If the householder’s circumstances change, the resident must inform the Council.

We will use your information to provide and improve the service to you and where possible so it does not identify you.

Prevention/Detection of Crime/Fraud. The Serious Crime Act 2007 allows public authorities to disclose information for the purposes of preventing fraud, as a member of a specified anti-fraud organisation or otherwise in accordance with any arrangements made with such an organisation.

The Council is required by law to protect the public funds it administers and so may use any information you have provided for the prevention, detection and investigation of fraud and irregularity, for the performance of a contract, or, task carried out in the public interest, or to comply with a legal obligation.   Part 6 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 and the Accounts and Audit (Wales) Regulations are the Legal basis
