Learning Support Teachers work across a range of settings to help achieve the best possible literacy outcomes for children and young people. The children and young people that we work with have all met the criteria for additional specialist teaching because of their significant difficulties with reading and spelling.
Learning Support Teachers work in partnership with children and young people, their families, schools, settings and other agencies with regards to their literacy development.
The types of support that the Learning Support Services deliver are:
- A person-centred approach that supports motivation, focus and self-esteem
- Individual or group-based lessons
- Individual Literacy Programmes, linked to Individual Development Plan outcomes
- In-depth formal assessment and monitoring
- Target setting and evaluation throughout the year
- Evidence-based strategies to support learning
- Providing support and guidance to mainstream settings
- Specialist consultation and advice for your child’s annual review of additional learning needs
All of our learning support team are qualified specialist literacy teachers.
