Colwyn Bay Waterfront Improvements - Phase 1 & 2

As the overall Project consists of both Coastal Defence and Environmental Improvement works, it has been able to draw funds from various sources. The Coastal defence aspects of the scheme have benefitted from an annual budget set aside by Welsh Government for Coastal Defence projects throughout Wales.

The Environmental Improvement works for Phase 1 were completed under the Welsh Government’s Coastal Towns Regeneration Programme, funded via the European Regional Development Fund (a fund which was targeted at areas which have been identified as most being in need of sustained investment to help trigger long term regeneration), along with the Welsh Governments Strategic Regeneration Area funding.  Phase 2 of the Project has been undertaken under Visit Wales’ Attractor Destinations Programme, with funds again from the European Regional Development Fund, as well as the Welsh Governments VVP (Vibrant and Viable Places) scheme.

Both elements of the scheme have also received funding from CCBC.

CCBC is continually exploring potential avenues of funding which could support future phases of the Waterfront Project and therefore contribute to the wider regeneration aspirations of the area.
