Employer Engagement

To develop and build our relationship with employers we appointed a second Employer Engagement Officer. Alice Kirwan joined the team in Summer 2023 and brought with her a wealth of experience having worked for Working Denbighshire in a similar position. Working in partnership with Clare Kingscott, our existing Employer Engagement Officer, they have been successfully building relationships with new and existing employers in order to secure volunteering opportunities, work trials and employment for the Hub’s participants and have also organised a number of influential events and schemes, plus the monthly job Fairs at the key Job Centres:

Business Information and Networking Event
We held our first Business Information and Networking Event at Conwy Business Centre in February which showcased the invaluable business support available to employers with guest speakers including DWP and Grwp Llandrillo Menai who presented information on ways to upskill and train existing staff with funding options and apprenticeship opportunities.  There were also a number of exhibitors from partner organisations who were able to discuss the additional support they can offer employers.

Guaranteed Interview Scheme
The Hub introduced a Guaranteed Interview Scheme which is designed to make the recruitment process easier for employers. The Scheme enhances the application process giving employers access to the Hub’s participants who have been pre-screened so only the most suitable candidates who meet all of the job specifications are put forward for an interview.

This is a free service which is open to all employers in the county no matter how big or small the business or organisation, and local businesses who have registered and already benefiting include Colwyn County Borough Council, Llandudno Pier, Alpine Coaches and a number of hotels in Llandudno including The Imperial and St George’s.

Bespoke Business Events
The Hub joined forces with COPA, Grwp Llandrillo Menai and DWP to deliver a tailored session of support to employees on Llandudno Pier.

As an employer navigating your way through the amount of free training available for your staff can be a complicated business, as can the different rules around earning money and claiming benefits.  This tailored session sought to pull all that information together in a way that could be easily understood, whilst motivating staff members to access flexible, part-time on-line courses to improve their career prospects.
